Tenzin Yangki (19) was crowned as Miss Tibet-2011 on late Sunday evening here.The youngest participant won the title leaving five participants of the beauty pageant.
Yangki,a student from Zurich in Switzerland,has just completed her class-10.
On Saturday,she had told TOI that by winning the Miss Tibet title,she can draw the attention of international community towards Tibet issue.
And on Sunday, when she appeared before the judges at Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) at Dharamshala,the judges asked her the question that how she would contribute towards the cause of Tibet after winning the crown.
"Tibetan women are educated and beautiful but role models are needed to ensure their effective participation in Tibet cause and Miss Tibet can be the role model to spread awareness," replied a confident Yangki.
While the newly elected Tibetan Prime Minister Lobsang Sangay has already supported holding such events for the cause of Tibet,surprisingly none from the present regime attended the gala round.
Meanwhile,the contest seems to have jeopardized the financial condition of the man behind the pageant.
